Description

The H. Upmann 1844 Special Edition Barbier cigar, named after the German word for "barber," features a unique barber pole design made with Ecuadorian Connecticut and Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper leaves. The binder, sourced from the island of Java in Indonesia, is paired with a filler blend consisting of Nicaraguan, Dominican, and broadleaf tobaccos of undisclosed origin. These cigars are produced at Tabacalera de García in La Romana, Dominican Republic. The combination of wrapper leaves creates a new flavor profile and complexity to the cigar, providing a distinctive smoking experience.

H. Upmann is among the oldest cigar brands in existence. In 1843, banker Hermann Dietrich Upmann arrived in Havana, Cuba to conduct business for an import and export company based in Germany. Seeing the potential, he purchased a cigar company and the brand was born in 1844. Today the brand exists as a Cuban brand owned by the Cuban government and a brand for the free world owned by Altadis USA.
